ATTENTION - If the BcSs-PICW-2000 sensor model is stored in locations of up to 40 ºC, it is recommended that the sensor be used in a location within the temperature operating range and wait until the sensor cools down. If the operating environment is at 20 ºC, the sensor takes approximately 6 minutes to cool down and reach the operating temperature (35 ºC).
4.4 connectivity
The wireless system uses radio frequency services to perform its functionalities. A brief description of the functionalities performed by the system and the Radio Frequency services required are summarized in the table below.
Wireless Functionality | RF service |
---|---|
Data sending from sensor to App | Bluetooth |
Bluetooth device pairing | Bluetooth |
Sending data from sensor to receiver | Bluetooth |
App account Login | Wifi / GPRS / EDGE / 3G / HSPA/HSPA+ / 4G / Other internet connection |
Data transmission to cloud and report generation | Wifi / GPRS / EDGE / 3G / HSPA/HSPA+ / 4G / Other internet connection |
Brain4care Wireless System uses Bluetooth Low Energy technology to communicate with the wireless sensor, receiver and mobile device with brain4care application.
The Bluetooth connection in the wireless sensor and receiver has the following specifications:
Bluetooth | |
Bluetooth version | Bluetooth 5 low energy, Concurrent Central & Peripheral, 2M LE PHY, 1M LE PHY, Advertising Extensions |
Security | brain4care proprietary protocol - Auto refuse third part connections |
LE connections | Concurrent central, observer, peripheral, and broadcaster roles allowing concurrent connections between 1 sensor and a receiver and b4c app |
Radio | |
Frequency | 2.360 GHz to 2.500 GHz |
Modulations | GFSK at 1 Mbps, 2 Mbps data rates |
Transmit power | +4 dBm maximum |
Receiver sensitivity | –96 dBm (Bluetooth low energy mode) |
The wireless Quality of Service is continuously monitored by B4C app in order to guarantee the required communication performance. If a minimum quality is not achieved, data loss may occur during transmission and the user is warned in the app. If it occurs, bring the sensor closer to the mobile device and check if the minimum quality has been achieved. Also, verify the existence of other wireless devices in the same room and check if the recommended separation distances described at Table 3-3 are maintained. In the event of lost network connection, user interaction may be required to reconnect. In accordance with AAMI TIR69 Risk Management of Radio-frequency Wireless Coexistence for Medical Devices and Systems, the B4C System was not required to undergo wireless coexistence testing.
The B4C application requires internet connection to login, send patient monitoring sessions data to the cloud and to receive the ICP reports. Any technology available on the mobile device that can provide internet connection (typically wifi 802.11 or LTE network) can be used. It is recommended that the mobile device should be used only in secured and encrypted networks.
4.5 batteries
Internal Battery BcSs-PICNIW-2000 sensor
The sensor has an internal Li-Ion, 3.7 Vdc, 350mAh battery, with a recharge time of approximately two hours and a discharge of approximately ten hours, monitoring with the sensor is not possible while the battery is being charged.
WARNING - Do not expose the sensor to heat sources. Excessive temperature can cause leaks and excessive heat can cause physical injury.
The wireless charging system may warm up and heat the sensor while charging to temperatures slightly above the ambient temperature. The sensor features overheating technology to prevent damage. However, it's important to check the product temperature before operating the sensor.
