6.1 disinfecting the sensor

B4C system has a disinfection procedure that requires generously applying 70% ethanol alcohol to a sterilized gauze and wiping each component according to the following instructions:

ATTENTION - The system cannot be sterilized or autoclaved as this will damage the equipment.

ATTENTION - Avoid pressing the pin on the green base of the sensor at any time during the procedure to avoid damaging the equipment.

Step 1. Before you begin, make sure the sensor is turned off with the power switch set to “O”.

Step 2. Disconnect each component and clean them separately.

Step 3. Apply ethyl or isopropyl alcohol (70-90%) to sterile gauze towels and wipe them lightly through each component.

Step 4. Wait for the components to dry for a few minutes and then store them in the case.

Disinfection must be conducted before and after each monitoring session to prevent contamination between monitoring sessions and storage. Systems that have not been properly disinfected carry the risk of contamination.

ATTENTION - Disinfect the sensor and headband with 70% ethanol alcohol, or other agents according to your healthcare facility’s disinfection protocols. This must be done before and after patient use.
