6.3.1 opening the brain4care app

Open the brain4care app on you mobile device. You will be directed to the APP login screen for Standard Login or the active user selection screen for Trusted Device Login


Standard login

Step 1 - username and password

On the home screen, log in using the ID option (1), followed by the username or ID + password(2), and press login (4).

ATTENTION - you should already have a username / ID and password created for you by your clinical engineering team. If not, please reach out to them to be able to use the B4C System. If your user profile is associated to only one corporate account you will be taken directly to the first login screen (Step 5)

Step 2 - select a corporate account (optional)

If your personal ID is associated to more than one corporate account, OR if your user profile password is different from your corporate account password, a pop-up window will appear with your corporate accounts (1). For those with an open lock icon (2), the supplied password at initial login is the same for that account. A click will take you to the main screen (step 5). For the corporate accounts with a closed lock icon (3), you’ll need to enter the corporate account password as defined in step 4.

Step 3 - log into corporate account (optional)

Enter the corporate password(1) and click LOGIN. If the account you want does not appear, contact your clinical engineering team to request access to that account.


Trusted device login

ATTENTION - this login option is available for registered TRUSTED devices. Contact your clinical engineering team to enable this on the device you are using. (Refer them to <link> of this userguide).

Step 1 - select user profile

Choose your user profile from the list of active users in your corporate account.

Step 2 - enter PIN (optional)

Enter your individual PIN. This is only required of your clinical engineering team has defined that individual user PINs are required for the trusted devices.

First screen after login

After login a main screen will be shown with three top sections:

  1. sensor pairing

  2. report list filtering

  3. new monitoring session

The bottom part is a table listing all monitoring sessions that you have access to for that corporate account.

Column (col. 4) shows patient name and classification tags for a monitoring session, (col.5) shows the monitoring session start date and time, (col.6) the monitoring duration, (col.7) the monitoring status, and (col.8) the report number and availability . The monitoring session statuses that exist are:

Appears when the app is offline

6.3.2 pairing the sensor

Step 1 - turn on the sensor

To turn on the sensor, slide the on/off switch towards the “I” position. Make sure you are not trying the press the interface button. This is used to pair the sensor with a dongle (please see section https://brain4care.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/B4CSENSORGUIDE29/pages/2853211499#6.8.1-manual-pairing if you are using a dongle)

ATTENTION - If the switch is not in its final position, the internal pin protector may interfere with adequate pin movement, decreasing sensor sensitivity, or even causing misreadings.

ATTENTION - The maximum operating temperature of the BcSs-PICW-2000 sensor model is 35°C. Therefore, if it is stored in a location of up to 40°C, it is recommended to use the sensor in a place with a temperature within the operating range (0 to 35°C) and wait until the sensor cools down. If the operating environment is at 20°C, the sensor takes approximately 6 minutes to cool down and reach the operating temperature (35°C).

Step 2 - trigger sensor pairing

To start pairing, make sure the sensor is turned on. Then, in the app, click on the (plus) connect button (1). The device search function will then start to scan any sensor that has been turned on.

Step 3 - confirm the sensor

A list of active sensors that are nearby will appear on your sensor pairing pop-up screen (1). The closest sensor will be selected automatically. Verify if the sensor UDI (Unique Device ID) on the sensor, opposite the power buttons, is the same that has been selected from the sensor list in the mobile app.

TIP - Some sensors may not be available for selection (dimmed) because they are blocked or do not belong to your organization, or are awaiting activation (if your sensor is not active, check with your clinical engineering team).

For the selected sensor, a visual confirmation for pairing will flash. The sensor and the sensor image in the mobile app will blink with the same color and frequency (2). If this pattern is the same between the mobile app screen and the sensor, the chosen sensor is the correct one. Click “Confirm” (3). If the pattern does not match or if you want to change the sensors, click the “Cancel” button (4). Once the chosen sensor is confirmed, the status LED on the sensor will flash green three times.
